Getaways – What Fuels our Passion for Making Connections – Part 6 of 6
by David Revelle, Shepherd’s Fortress Ministries, Associate Director - PastorCare
My heart is burdened for the Church. Lately there have been denominations, churches, and leaders who have fallen into the quicksand of compromise in things that are very clear in Scripture. This happens when one caves to the pressure of listening more to what man says rather than what God is saying.
While we wouldn’t expect the world to walk in obedience and pattern their lives after God’s word, we should expect holiness to be the utmost priority of the people of God because of the indwelling and unction of the Holy Spirit within.
In my view, what leads to pastor burnout, feeling tempted to quit or to actually quit, moral failure, personal discouragement or depression is due to the neglect of quality and quantity personal time in the presence of the Lord, detached from the daily function of ministry.
We are seeing a rise in pastors taking needed time away. Praise the Lord! However, the number of pastors who believe they can’t afford to get away is very common as well. This isn’t due only to finances; many believe they don’t have time to be away due to an over-demanding schedule, especially bi-vocational pastors who minister full-time and work a full-time job. This fuels our passion for making connections between pastors and ministries
who provide a place for pastors to enjoy God’s presence and His wonderful creation.
Neither machine nor people were created to be in high gear at all times. Everything and everyone require a healthy cycle of work, rest, and renewal. We are here to help as God draws you to Himself for this purpose.
It would be our pleasure to serve you! Feel free to connect with PastorCare, and we will send you a link to an
online form where you can offer some information to us regarding your desired getaway that will help us in providing a list of possibilities for you to consider.
Pastors, thank you for the many sacrifices that you make to love and lead the Church!
