Be Encouraged, Pastor! - April 26, 2026
"The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it?" Jeremiah 17:9
"He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not lift up his soul to what is false and does not swear deceitfully." Psalm 24:4
HEARTS ATILT
A school aged son spilled his hurts to mommy. Amidst the sobs, my daughter heard the woes of playground teasing, unacceptance, loneliness. In the youngster’s mind, trusted friends had become turn coats. Toddler brother took it all in. Ever the child to have his antenna attuned to feelings and situations, the preschooler injected his take on things. He perceptively declared: “those boys have upside down hearts!”
The kid nailed it!
At the heart of all issues is the issue of the heart. Hearts created poised to receive love, acceptance, truth, purpose by their Maker go terribly upside down without Love’s life buoyancy. Heavy weights upend hearts. Hearts atilt, afflicted, abused, alone, offended, adrift, abandoned, amiss and a mess invert thus spilling toxic waste on anyone nearby.
Hurting people hurt people!
What’s at my core? What am I spilling along my way? Just yesterday I dumped toxic junk on people I love. An inventory is in order here. Is my heart upside down or right side up? Is it: awash in forgiveness?Aligned in truth? Afloat with expectancy and hope? Abounding in grace and mercy? Aflame with faith's fire? Aflutter with love for the One who is Love? Aglow with life? Adorned with God gifts like peace, patience, kindness, joy? Affirming of others as those made in Gods image? Aloft with Heaven's perspective? Appreciative of all my blessings? Affixed to Christ alone ?
I just may be in need of some cardiac adjustments. Better yet some God breathed CPR. How about you?

I wonder this morning, how much that we will say has been revealed versus how much will have simply been rehearsed?
We must give our sheep the message God has given us!
