Dr. Hernan Schmidt
Hernan S. Schmidt, M.D., has throughout his first 35 years as a psychiatrist served hundreds of pastors and their families. This was particularly so as founder and medical director of the Minirth-Meier New Life Clinic of Michigan and as consultant to Alongside Ministries for missionaries. He was excited to observe that helping a pastor find “SPEaR” health balance (Spiritual, Physical, Emotional, and Relational) ripples wonderfully throughout his family and the church. Dr. Schmidt soon considered this work, and serving on the PasterCare Board, his most important vocational calling. He founded the Psychological Medicine Centers and a psychiatric inpatient unit, chaired some hospital Psychiatry departments and an FQHC, consulted with Head Injury Recovery Center, substance abuse programs, CMHC’s, nursing homes, prisons, churches, schools, pastoral organizations, and has treated professsionals via medical, nursing, and psychological boards.
