Fil and Ruth Moore PastorCare Endowment Fund
Filbert Moore, Sr. throughout his life gave generously to better the lives of fellow citizens. As a dedicated Dentist and Orthodontist for more than 50 years, he began his practice through serving low-income public school children with dental care. In 1953, he willingly gave up a thriving 20-year dental practice to serve as a military dentist on the island of Okinawa. Upon conclusion of his military duty, he rebuilt his practice, offering charity dentistry to college students who could not afford needed care. His selfless giving to church and family, and 50 years with the Optimist Club, prepared him to significantly support the unique PastorCare program to help needy pastors and their families.
Following Ruthâs death in 1998, Dr. Moore established The Fil & Ruth Moore PastorCare Endowment Fund by placing an initial gift of $100,000 into this charitable fund. Dr. Mooreâs objective was to create a philanthropic fund that would provide ongoing support to pastors through PastorCare, The National Clergy Support Network, founded in 1995 by their son, Dr. Filbert Moore Jr. Growth of The PastorCare Endowment Fund, supplemented by annual donations from individuals, churches, non-profits and businesses, will ensure that the pastoral ministry of PastorCare continues in perpetuity. To oversee distributions from this fund, Dr. Moore, Sr., appointed investment professional Mary Ellen Valliant with Raymond James Associates. Wise investing has allowed $30,000 to come to PastorCare while protecting the $100,000 principal. Wise investors desiring to leave a legacy can receive a strong lifetime interest income before their gift is bestowed to PastorCare at death.
